Hey fellow JUers! Sorry I haven't posted in a bit, but I was sick and down for the count. I had a sinus infection and a stomach virus all in one! I didn't eat for 4 days straight...kind of frightening. I really made Hardin put those vows to the test (that whole sickness and in health thing). He took me to the doctor and nursed me back to health. What a man!! Today is the first day where I feel pretty darn close to 100%. I guess that's what I get for working with kids! I missed ...

Over the past couple days I haven't been feeling right and when I woke up this morning, it all made sense. I caught one helluva cold! My head is stuffed, my throat is sore, and gobs of snot are spewing from my nose. Even the glands on the back of my neck are swollen. I decided to be a trooper and go to work, but that was even useless. They sent me home! Now I'm back at the apartment going stir crazy. I should go back to bed, but I feel like I must do something....hence why I wrote the ...

I have been smoke free for 65 days between december 20th and now. I did not count the days which I relapsed on the honeymoon, nor when I relapsed on the day of the superbowl. That's pretty damn good for someone who smoked a half a pack a year ago! I'm going to go the distance this time!!

Hardin and I decided to go to the newly opened Cold Stone Creamery ice cream parlor by the grocery store. The concept behind this place is very neat. You start out with a simple flavor of ice cream, pick from an assortment of toppings, and the person behind the counter puts all of these goodies on a cold mixing stone and mixes them together to create your own signature flavor of ice cream. I decided to get cake batter flavored ice cream with snickers bars mixed in and Hardin got pistachio ...

Celebrities are asshats. They make so many people feel bad about themselves for not having enough of anything. They go out and buy these lavish homes, while others are on the street without a pot to piss in. They go out and buy zillions of dollars worth of clothes every season, while other people are lucky to have enough money to go to the thrift store. They spend thousands of dollars at the bar for a night of fun, when the working man and woman would just kill to have a night of fun. ...

For those of you who don't know I was a freelance musician. I have played (french) horn with some of the biggest (and smallest) names throughout Ohio. My resume includes multiple genres of music. I technically have achieved rockstar status (I've recorded on a few CDs), but could also perform beethoven at the drop of a hat. I have played for theatre and dance events. I am a jazzer as well. Or atleast I was... Making music used to be a blast, but somehow it lost it's luster. Betw...

Due to the 8 millionth winter snowstorm this season, I got bored and decided to puruse my husband's book collection. He owns a vast number of books, most of them dealing with philosophy and classical literature. Just for fun, I thought I'd take a stab at reading a book by a philosopher I never heard of. I picked out the book The Sickness Unto Death by Soren Kierkegaard. Talk about some deep mumbo jumbo. It took me 40 minutes to read the first paragraph. The question is posed: What i...

As of late, a lot of bloggers have decided to leave JU due to the childish antics of some of it's members. This is sad. Blogging wasn't made for harrassing eachother, it was designed for the enjoyment of writing; the enjoyment of sharing with a community. According to websters dictionary, a community is defined as "A group of people with similar interests." That similar interest that brings us together is the enjoyment of blogging, but some do not share this common thread. Some use ...

So it's here. The big 100. I'm pressed with the issue what to write about. Most people on here write 100 facts about themselves, but I don't know if I'm that interesting or cool to come up with 100 seperate entities. I could write a huge story on who I am and why I am here today, but that takes away from the mysteriousness that is Alison Watkins (although that's not really my name anymore). I could write about how my blog came about, but most of you know how I made it here. I could also...

Es cierto, I used to hablo espanol. I took four years of spanish throughout high school and two in college. One of my dearest friends is Argentinian, so she kept me pretty fluent while she was in Ohio. One would think I would be pretty fluent after all of this studying. The truth of the matter is, I just recall bits and pieces of the language. I can form exactly three sentences these days. Donde esta el bano? (where is the bathroom) Un burro sabes mas que tu. (A donkey knows mor...

I've been living in NY for a little over 2 months and I just realize that I do not have one single friend. It's kind of sad and pathetic. Sure, I have my husband and he's nothing short of wonderful, but I need friends to go shopping with. I need friends to go to the salon with. I need friends to go out to coffee and gossip with. Male or female, or whatever... I need a friend! When I was in Undergrad back in Ohio it seems like I had friends out the ass. For my 21st birthday party, I h...

At work on Wednesday, my boss gave me a coupon for a full service salon visit. "Wow!" I thought to myself. "I totally deserve a trip to a New York Salon!" So today, I decided to get my hair cut. I told the lady I wanted a trim because I'm trying to grow out my hair. That part was fine, she only took off about a fourth of an inch, but here's the catch. Guess how much it cost without the coupon....$40! I was floored. I mean, I can see if I was getting my hair chopped off how it c...

I found out today that one of my dear friends from Undergrad was diagnosed with Leukemia. If anyone can beat it, it's him. He has such a genuine heart and spirit. Due to privacy I didn't post his name. I am in shock and terribly saddened. Say a prayer for my friend.
