A day in the life of an Ohioan turned New Yorker
The Summer of 1995 was neither memorable or forgettable, but nevertheless, it deserves a spot on my list. Let me fill you in on what happened that school year:

I was reunited with my childhood friend Katie that year by signing up for Jazz Band. She, my friend Michelle, and I were the "power trio." We did everything together. All the girl power kind of brought down my relationship with Curtis, and we broke up that January. I was heartbroken and cried for days, but my girls stood by me through thick and thin.

The Summer of 1995 was spent at one of two places: 1) at the mall and 2) at Perry Pool (the local high school natatorium). My parents would pay me $10 a week for doing household chores, and once I'd save up about $30 at a time, I would take the money and go shopping at The Limited Too with Katie and Michelle.

That summer was also the year I started running on the Cross Country Team. Michelle and I decided to go out for it together, and who would have known that spending the entire morning running in a giant circle could be so entertaining. Once we were in shape we decided to take our running to the next level. We had mapped out a three mile course to the local Burger King! and that season we wondered why we were never breathtakingly swift runners....

Anyways, Burger King was not the only motivation to run. Our coach would frequently bring his football playing son, Jon, to practice, since his practice started a half an hour later than ours. I soon became infatuated with Jon the football player. Once night I recall staying over night at Katie's and she dared me to call him! I was never one to turn down a dare, so I picked up the phone and gave it a try.

Over that summer I called Jon's house about every other week asking him out to the movies and he kept turning me down...hmm...I wonder why.....

And those were the highlights from the summer of 1995.
