A day in the life of an Ohioan turned New Yorker

Last night Hardin and I were flipping through the channels and came across "Driven: Green Day" on Vh1. Being fans of Green Day, we couldn't miss it, so we sat on the futon and began watching. Of course, it was your regular "rags to riches punkrawk everyone hates you because you sold out" kind of story, but I still found it rather intriguing.

After watching this, I have come to the conclusion that A) Being in a band tests numerous facets of your life musically, emotionally, and mentally and the guys of Green Day are fucking geniuses.

Their fifth Album entitled "American Idiot" is a punk opera concept album which questions many political actions facing the nation and questions the reality of the "American Dream." Out of the songs I've heard from this new record, they do not take sides politically per se, they are just simply putting the message out that America needs to wake up and become familiar with their surroundings.

I personally thought this idea was pure genius. An album with a point....a statement if you will...a punk opera..I know, I know, The Who have their rock opera and all, but I found it exciting that the notion of a concept album, especially about issues facing our beloved US of A, has finally been recognized and has sold so many copies.

Green Day, you guys kick ass!

(Sorry Itunes, I'm actually going to purchase this CD)
