A day in the life of an Ohioan turned New Yorker
Published on May 25, 2005 By alison watkins In Misc
The other day I was at Borders looking for something new to read and I came across a book entitled "Discover Zen." Being very interested in not only Buddism, but the art of transendence and relaxation, I picked it up and haven't put it down since.

This book has opened my eyes. I am starting to realize that it is not worth it to sweat the small things in life. There is so much more to living than being stuck inbetween petty problems and gossip. The book is filled with many exercises on discovering life in the spaces that surround you. It describes the different levels of zen and it's origins.

All in all...a great read

Many think that you have to be a strict Buddist to believe in the practice of Zen, but this is completely untrue. Zen can be practiced by anyone at any time and any place. I totally suggest this to everyone!!

P.S. I MISS YOU GUYS!! (I've been so swamped with work that I haven't had a chance to write---I have worked 9 days without a day off!! ahh!!)

I miss you guys. It sounds like I'm missing a lot of heated action, you guys will have to fill me in so I can sit back and enjoy (as Danny and foreverserenity mentioned on LW's thread)

Alison, good to "read" you again. Your book sounds interesting. I dont' think I've read up on the art of zen as yet, interesting. As for the filling in part, just start reading. You'll see inbetween the lines.

I shall now fill you in on all the happenings while you were gone (or at least all that matters). First up, many of the bloggers here are sanity challenged. Which is a good thing, adds to variety and entertainment value, at least when the inmates aren't trying to stab each other (stab him, STAB HIM I SAY. Lister's paranoia, meet Stab Him. Stab Him, Lister's paranoia ). And second, PAS. People Are Strange/Stupid/Silly, Plain And Simple. Is just part of what people are, live with it, enjoy it. Or go stark raving mad, like most of us already have And there you go, your all caught up, just need to note the new names and you should feel right at home in no time In the meantime, I'll be sitting in the corner feeling all shameful for linking to my own articles...

Danny:
Like I said to fs, all I can say is WOW. Here's one for you....PASAA...people are self absorbed assholes....As i've been reading, I've noted a lot of folks who need to get their heads out of their own assholes.
