A day in the life of an Ohioan turned New Yorker
I would like to dedicate this article to the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing. God bless the 168 victims and their families. 18 of those 168 were children.

I remember the exact moment that it happened. I was in the eighth grade and my Mother and I were both home sick with pnemonia.

Where were you when it happened?

I was at work when I got the word. An architect that was doing work for a local church here and returned to OKC that mornig and was killed there while in the social security office. So sad.

I saw the memorial a couple of years ago (I'm only 150 or so miles away) and it was heart rending. To me, it was so sad, these were Okies! Awful close to home.

I hope McVeigh's enjoyin' the heat.
Side note: Funny thing, but the setting for my last blog was in Oklahoma City, although I didn't mention its name in the story. OKC musta been on my mind...

I was sitting in my 9th grade geography class when a friend said she'd called her grandma during lunch or something and heard about it. I don't remember much about watching TV and hearing about it on the news...

I do remember the morning they executed Timothy McVeigh though. Sure...the bastard deserved it...but...I'm all about live and let live.

It's funny. I have no clue what the heck I was doing when I heard about this mishap. I remember where I was when the Challenger blew up spectacularly. Grade 8, another teacher knocked on our classroom door and told us. It was about 11am cause I remember going home for lunch and watching it. I still recall the Nasa Genius' comment "Obviously a major malfunction". D-uh!

Shovelheat:
Wow, I didn't realize it was so close to your home.

May McVeigh enjoy his hellbound stay!

Marcie:
Isn't it odd being in school when hearing such awful news? i remember being in class for 9/11 all of the sudden we were all quiet and we were sent home.

Foreverserenity:
Such sad memories.

Where you in the city for 9/11?

Reiki:
I remember where I was for Challenger, too. I just got home from visiting my grandma and my brother and I were playing barbies (against his will of course)....wow...that was a while ago!

I was a few miles away at work in the Oklahoma State Capitol Building. Had a Pastor friend that died in the bombing. I too will never forget.

Sad to hear you lost a friend in such a great tragedy.

I was home sick from school that day, too!

I remember being frustrated that I couldn't watch anything on tv other than news coverage. Wow, that goes to show how stupid and clueless we are when we're young. (at least me)

I miss you Alison!! How I long for nightly-phone calls to return!!

Chrissy!

I remember feeling the same way. All I wanted to do was watch The Price is Right (how ironic...lol)
What it would be like to be so young and nieve again....

I miss you!!

Dude! I almost called you because someone from Ball State was on The Price is Right!!!

(ha)

I was just telling Trent at the gym last night how this summer, despite its faults, has provided me with several classic stories for a lifetime. Most noteable last night was my telling him about our newfound love for Talc, and the night we discovered it's magical properties at the Outpost!! What a good time!!

Send me good vibes tonight for my big Trout performance!! Ahhh!

*my coworkers are driving me insane...it's like the "dorothy" equivelant over here times 10!*

Miss you, A!!

I was in Wisconsin (but I grew up 70 miles from OKC).

Little piece of trivia: the scumbag, Stephen Jones, who represented McVeigh is the same jerk who represented my half brother's father in his trial for brutally raping and murdering my half brother. In that case, Jones' defense worked: my half brother's father received a mere 20 years. Our only consolation: that his cellies took care of him for us.

Chrissy:
Good luck, play pretty!

Last summer certainly was memorable!

Gideon:
hmm...small world....how ironic...disturbing, yet ironic!
