A day in the life of an Ohioan turned New Yorker
dedicated to those bloggers.

As of late, a lot of bloggers have decided to leave JU due to the childish antics of some of it's members. This is sad. Blogging wasn't made for harrassing eachother, it was designed for the enjoyment of writing; the enjoyment of sharing with a community.

According to websters dictionary, a community is defined as "A group of people with similar interests." That similar interest that brings us together is the enjoyment of blogging, but some do not share this common thread. Some use their blogs in an unjust and hateful manner. This is not a common thread throughout JU members. Some of us are here because we enjoy hearing what others have to say, others...well, who can tell?

If this is the direction this so called "community" is headed, than this is not healthy and I think many people will decide to leave. It is sad to see great bloggers like Dharma and manopeace go. They were real assets to the community. The healthy community that used to be JU. If this harrassment goes on, even if it does not effect me directly, I'm out too.

blacklisting people tends to cause them to take their bitching to the forums as opposed to a thread, so every time you load a forum, there it is. you can ignore it, I suppose, but it becomes easier just to ignore the whole site.

Why should people have to be blacklisted in the first place? What about respect for individuals?

Myrrander:
I agree...we've seen some unruly behavior for the past couple weeks.

I said this on another site {manopeace} I say stand and fight for what you believe in. the truth is anytime there are a crowd of people there are going to be some ya love, some ya hate, some ya admire, some ya dont..

I have one person blacklisted NOT FOR HER POLITICS but for her personal attacks..

Good point. There are a million people on earth, I guess you are bound to piss off one or two. But I have seen some harrasing that's just been awful on here.

Maybe we should start a petition against the childish folks.

Thats exactly how people get blacklisted. They go onto other peoples blogs and act childish or they write articles that violate the community norms here (attacking other bloggers by name especially in the title of the article). They have no respect for the rights of others so they are slowly excluded from the community.

Blacklisting only goes so far, though. Once you've blacklisted someone, they tend to go write entire articles dedicated to what a turd you are. Not naming you in the title means they can get away with doing it...there are people here who walk the line when it comes to rules. I've been guilty of flaming in the past, I think that a lot of people have...however, there are things that you just don't do, dig?

That being said, things are changing. JU is learning as it goes along....and I'm learning with it.

It seems like more of this needs to be done if people are going to act childish.

Thats why we also need an "Ignore" feature...

If I were a praying person, I'd have been praying with all my might for one of those. As it is, I'm not....so I'll just pester Draginol and Karma for one instead.

It's totally lame-ass, Al...that's what it is. Oh...and since the queen bee happens to be quarantined at the moment, she can't comment...but I wrote an article about this topic once myself...what I envisioned blogging to be, and I got ripped a new butthole for it...just so you know.

That is crappy...I will have to read it!

What JU needs, IMO, are volunteeer moderators who do NOT have blogs (and never have) here so that they don't become personally involved.

The moderators would patrol the FORUMS only. Just my 2 cents.
