A day in the life of an Ohioan turned New Yorker
an exercise of the mind

Today I explored Long Island for the first time....It's like Northeast Ohio, only faster.

Decided to grab a slice for dinner. I love pizza....I think i could eat it every day. Long Island has better pizza than Ohio....

I've had short hair most of my life. I'm currently letting it grow. It's a couple inches past my shoulders. My husband would be pissed if I decided to get it chopped.

My niece can't say my full name. She calls me Al, but it comes out like, "owl".....kids are precious.

Baseball might be the greatest sport ever.....football comes in at a close second. Not all women/girls are dumb when it comes to sports. I really hate that stereotype.

I am type A..no sense in denying it. I'm a total control freak...I obsess over details....heck, I obsess over life.

Take your vitamins daily. I do.

I guess I have an accent. I didn't really notice it until I moved to NY.

Who's the Boss might just be the greatest show ever. Infact, I love 80's sitcoms. Too bad the airwaves are now filled with "Human Dramas".

This is the first time I've lived with cable in years.

Lately I've been having this dream that I'm smoking a cigarette. Maybe I'm having some kind of weird withdrawl symptom.

Oh yeah, I quit smoking about a month ago.

I love to shop....I love clothes....If I didn't want to be a music teacher I would want to be a clothing designer.

I've been going through this phase where I listen to nothing but Jazz.....maybe it's because my husband is a jazz musician.

I secretly want to be a rockstar....guess that's not a secret anymore.

i gave up catholicism for lent about 3 years ago. I've been searching for a new branch religion ever since. Any suggestions?

The Simpsons are brilliant.

So is just about everything on Adult Swim for that matter.

Cooking isn't as hard as it seems. It's actually quite entertaining.

I'm addicted to sweets.....it's bad.

I've never been given flowers.

I really wanted John Kerry as our new president.

I found out that my childhood best friend is a stripper.

Another one of my childhood friends died this past october from cancer.

I just might be a bad influence on others.

I go stir crazy without something to do.

Hope you enjoyed this!

hehe--what part of ohio is he from? The north part has a real weird nasal thing going on...for example, I'm from Canton, but it comes out like "ca(very short a sound)n't in)..the southern part is kind of twangy..I think it's the southern influence.

thanks for reading

Alison, welcome to Long Island. When the weather gets nice, you must visit Fire Island. The Sunken Forest is stunning. The beach is stunning.

Have you indulged in the seafood yet? There are some fabulous restaurants. One of my favs is The Cull House in Sayville. Moderately priced, great deals on lobsters, rather informal, and just plain good.

Don't let the NY accented individuals convince you that YOU have an accent. It is them.

I was both an ardent Kerry supporter, and an anyone but bush advocate.

Sorry your friend died of cancer. That bites.................

My BIL is a jazz musician. Jazz and classical are my favorites. I listen to jazz more than anything else.

I enjoyed your list alot. Thanks

You? A bad influence?? hahaha...who could you possibly be referencing?? I know that I, for one, have become significantly more well-behaved since being your friend. I mean, I've been a saint with Rivers, Will, Tom, Chris, bagboys at Giant Eagle...the list goes on and on! *sigh* I love you alison! I need to come visit soon!!!

Alison, sushi is great stuff. I think the best sushi restaurant is a place called Tai Show on Montauk Highway in Oakdale.
I couldn't help but mention it.
