A day in the life of an Ohioan turned New Yorker
Gwen Stefani is best known as the spunky platinum blonde frontwoman of the popular bubblegum ska band No Doubt. To get the role of Gene Harlow in the Academy Award Nominated Motion picture The Aviator, Gwen Stefani admits that she crash dieted to squeeze into the tiny constumes. First of all there were no multiple costumes...just one. Her total airtime in the movie was about 90 seconds. She had exactly one line....and she starved herself for this.

Gwen Stefani at most (pre starvation diet) might have been a size 8. That isn't even large to begin with. Now she looks like a skeleton....all for what? A one liner in a so so movie. What kind of message is this sending women?

I think that Gwen Stefani started to lose the weight for the part, but I saw the video for "its my life" and there she already looked like a skeleton. So i really dont think she was doing it for the Aviator, I think she has been on diets for a long time now, and working out A LOT just like every other celebrity becomes after a while. She says she still runs everyday now.

I thought Stefani was WAAAYYYYYY too skinny to play my idol!! I think she made Jean Harlow look awful... she made some pretty rude comments about Jean, too. Like, I saw 18 movies... blah, blah, blah (quoting). She probably didn't know who harlow was before she was offered the part!!! I never even want to see the film because of her. Ruining my favorite time era, like that!

She doesn't need to lose weight for a part. They could always edit her "fat" out as they did with Drew Barrymore in Charlie's Angels.
