1) First, Let's state the obvious. This big cock waving contest entitled the "war on terror" featuring the US's personal whipping boy England. No one has yet to answer (W included) why exactly we are in Iraq and not hunting the terrorists in Afghanistan. WHAT DOES IRAQ HAVE TO DO WITH ANY OF THIS?!?!?!

2) He's all for the dumbing down of society. Instead of teachers striving to teach their students to obtain long term knowledge, all teachers are now required to teach students how to take a standardized test. This is complete bullshit. Every teacher is required to teach reading in their classroom, even when their initial discepline is not reading. My discepline is music. Teaching reading is the reading teacher's job. Having to do this takes time out of my classroom to teach the life long values that music has to offer...but wait....according to W the arts are just an extra curricular activity and have nothing to offer. MUSIC EQUALS BRAINPOWER!

3) He's the only president who's for taking away the rights of Americans. He wants to propose a constitutional amendmant to ban same sex marriages. Last I checked the constitution was all about giving rights to American's.....WTF?!

4) He let the ban on the deadliest assult weapon expire. Smooth move ex lax.

5) He is in favor of not having women choose what they can do or can't do to their bodies. I am not for or against abortion. I am for the right to choose.

6) "I've been reading what's on the internets." Need I say more?

7) He thinks the economy is thriving when it obviously isn't. Excuse me...my mother was one of the many thousands that lost her job post 9-11. She went from a web designer to a saleswoman at Kaufmann's. What's wrong with this picture?

8) Look at the price of gas.

9) Instead of spending 2 trillion dollars to put Americans on health insurance, he's using it to fun the so-called war on terrorism.

10) He is destroying the middle class by giving tax cuts to the insanely rich and sending us jobs over seas.

#2 They're not supposed to be teaching them *how* to take a standardized test. The reason the test came about was because the teachers were not teaching the kids to read, write or do arithmetic which meant the teachers weren't doing their job.
#4 The AWB which was the biggest crock ever. It banned certain firearms on looks *alone* Not because of firepower or what the firearms could or couldn't do.
#6 What you read on the internet is not always true.
#7 I suppose it GW's fault that your mom got caught in the dot com bubble going bust. Here's a little something to follow that up with: This also applies to #10
Also on #10 I thought that cutting out the marriage penalty and increasing the child credit that the cuts were help low to middle class taxpayers also.
This quote is from Neal Boortz but has a lot of meaning behind it.

"First of all, they are NOT our jobs. The job belongs to the employer, not the employee. You have the job skills. The employer has the jobs. If the employer can make a profit by purchasing your job skills to perform his job then you get a paycheck. If your job skills cost the employer too much, or if your job skills don't meet the employer's needs, then you don't get a paycheck. If you fail to develop your job skills, you run the risk of not having a paycheck. If your job skills don't match the employer's needs, you don't get a paycheck. If you charge too much for your job skills, you won't get hired. You have no right to a job. You do have a right to be left alone by government and your fellow citizens to develop your own God-given talents in such a way that employers will seek you out. You also have a right to ignore educational opportunities and to develop a slovenly work ethic so that employers will shun you. You make your choices, and you live with the consequences of your decisions. I would tell that person that any American with desirable job skills and a good work ethic, properly priced, would have to hide under his bed to avoid getting a good job. If you believe in the year 2004 that you can build a sound career as a textile plant worker in South Carolina then you are living a lie, and that delusion will soon catch up to you. You need to understand that you are a free and sovereign individual. You don't belong to the government, and it's not the government's responsibility to provide you with a job. It's the government's job to clear the way for you to exercise your free choices, develop your skills, hone your work ethic, and contract with an employer eager to hire someone like you. Past that, you're on your own, and that's life in a free society."

I made one for reasons I'm voting for Kerry. I was attacked. So I guess I'm not allowed to make a list of the reasons to vote for kerry... just against Bush.. and when I do that I am shouted down too. Wow, I love JU.

Whoa, Sandy. Don't even think about being intimidated by being "shouted down" on JU. Criticism & debating of points of view is healthy, not something you should feel gunshy about (pardon the pun). You can't take the reply posts as a measure of the strength of your own belief or veiwpoint. There is a ton of shouting down going on from both sides, so fear not.

Nobody has ever had anything to say about the reasons a conservative plans to vote for Bush (or I guess in this case, against Kerry), eh?

sandy--isn't it grand?

What's the matter? No snappy comebacks?
on Oct 14, 2004
Yes, there's a trap here. Some Bush supporters say that Kerry supporters are only driven by dislike of Bush. But if Kerry supporters than explain why they support him, these Bush supporters regurgitate Bush campaign talking points.

These Bush supporters never acknowledge that their original claim -- that Kerry supporters are driven only by dislike of Bush -- has been demonstrated false.

I guess I'd be more sympathetic to these Bush supporters if they started with "Okay, I admit you have reasons you support Kerry, but I disagree because..."

to dz
1) Osama Bin Lauden--the initial person who is responsible for 9-11 is now long gone thanks to Bush and his need to fill his daddy's shoes. If his daddy would have done the job efficiently in the 90s then we wouldn't have to worry about saddam....

2) If a teacher is in the game for the passion to teach, then why would one need standards?

3) Then why is this amendment worded to take rights away? Anyone who votes for this is so narrow minded.

4) Then why is it called an assult weapons BAN

5) Then why did he say he wants to ban abortion if he's not going to go to congress?

6) Shit or get off the pot with this one...he knows the pressure is on...if he can't speak clearly then there is a real problem.

7) What prosperity?

8) Being in Iraq has a lot to do with oil.

9) Why is there a war in the first place?

10) Not everyone got a tax cut.

I know music equals power. Maybe you could do some songwriting activities. Eventually, some of those kids may write political songs that play a part in revolutions and we can end the Bush dynasty and the like. It isn't so far fetched....And you'd be partly responsible!

1.) We are in Iraq because this is a war on terrorism, not a war on ONLY AL-QUEDA. Saddam Hussein offered a 'scholarship' of $25,000 to the families of any successful homocide bomber. Despite the harboring of Al-Queda, the pay-offs to the French to alter their position on sanctions AND firing on coallition forces for 12 years straight, he was, in fact, a horrible person responsible for the deaths of millions of Iraqis. In short, he was terrorising the Iraqi populace, and that is reason enough.

We did not go to Iraq to help the Iraqis.Yes, what he did was horrible, but the are worse countries out there. Further, the way on terror is on terror threats to THIS country. Iraq posed no threat to the United States.

3.) The constitutional amendment does not take away anything from homosexual couples, but strengthens traditional marriage for hetrosexuals. Nowhere in the amendment does it state that homosexual couples cannot be granted the same rights as married couples, it only defines marriage as a hetrosexual union. I know this is difficult to understand for alot of people out there, but to me this is so ridiculous its not even funny. Why does marriage have to be changed? Cant homosexuals come up with their own name for a union and their own traditions? I think they can.

Yes, gays can come up with another name, because Marriage IS between a man and a woman, but it is NOT the federal government's place to say this.

4.) The Assualt weapon ban didnt actually ban weapons, but imposed federal guidelines on how those weapons can be used. Were looking at the difference between a 6 round clip and a 12 round clip. There is not a single gun available now that wasnt legally available while the ban was in place. In other words, it was feel good fluff that didnt actually protect police or the public.

Well, if it saved one life than it was worth it. It was a worthy step in the right direction, and strengthening it not letting it expire was the way to handle the situation. It certainly didn't hurt anything.

5.) The real question is, will he approach Congress to have abortion banned? No, he wont. Remember, Congress makes law, judges interpret the law. Bush has said repeatedly he will appoint Supreme Court judges (if the oppurtunity arises) that are Constitutionalists - they interpret the Constitution as it is written. This is the correct view of how to appoint judges, as they do NOT make law.

Thats what he says. He'd be the first president in ever to do this, but considering all the other firsts hes had, hey maybe its possible.

6.) Sure, please do say more, publicly in front of thousands of people or the pressure of a multi-million TV audience. I will be surprised if you can, as only 10% of Americans have excellent public speaking skills. Most people, even many famous actors, feel extreme stress and pressure when speaking in front of an audience. Jumping on the President for an accent and difficulty with public speaking is the same as jumping on 90% of Americans, and is unfair.

90% of americans aren't the president. There are some basic expectations of the president, and one of the things that goes along with being an effective leader is being able to effectivley express your ideas to your citizens and to the world.

7.) Sorry to hear about your mother, everyone was hit hard by 09/11. On 09/10/2001, I had over 350 ongoing projects going with my clients. Mind you, my clients are Nextel, AT&T, Cingular, T-Mobile and other telecomm companies. EVERY SINGLE PROJECT WAS PLACED ON HOLD. For over 11 months not a single new or existing was worked on, and in telecomm alone 100,000's of people were laid off. Thats ALL because of 09/11. The only way we survived was by getting tax cuts and working our asses off at Wal*Mart. Luckily, my industry has recovered now. I took my tax cuts from 2003 and started up my own home design business. Little by little I have regained my former clients. If your mother hasnt found a better job its probably because economic recovery is slow and does not effect all areas at the same rate. Right now we have the lowest unemployment in over 20 years, which is pretty darn good for a country in which over a million people lost jobs due to a homeland attack. I wont even go into the Clinton recession, but I will say everyone reading this should be thankful we arent living in a DEPRESSION. The President got on the same page as The fed, and between tax cuts and Greenspans expert handling of the rate, we are back on track to prosperity.

Good, then the tax cut helped for the time and it is now time to roll them back for the wealthiest people. End of discussion.

8.) The President has little to do with the price of gas, although all Presidents are ultimately blamed for it. In fact, it is commonly recognized that we are at or have passed what is called "The Oil Peak", where we have used 1/2 of all the available oil resources within the Earth. Economists and oil experts agree that the price of oil, per barrel, will probably stabilize around $40 a barrel, about twice of what we saw in the 90's. Here's the best part: You would think that since we have been using oil on a global scale since the early 1900's, we would have almost another century since we are only halfway through the global supply. Yet it doesnt work like that. The less oil we have available, the deeper we have to go to drill, and the more expensive it becomes. Demand for oil during the last 2 decades equals the demand for the previous 70 years, so at best we have another 10-20 years of oil flowing out of the ground, then its over. Think about that.

What has Bush done to reduce our use of oil? His "Hydrogen innitiative" is not enough. Impose restrictions on the industry. Demand better fuel economy.

9.) I dont think the war on terrorism is fun. BTW, we either kill them over there or they kill us over here. THIS IS A WORLD WAR. Why dont people understand this?

Yep, because the citizens of Iraq were the ones behind 9/11.

10.) Everyone got a tax cut, and this Democratic line of class warfare doesnt even play. The rich pay the majority of the taxes, so if you give an even percent tax cut to all Americans, which is fair, the rich, who PAY MORE than the middle class, will recieve a larger per dollar savings. Its simple math. Joe Rich pays $10,000 in taxes, I pay $1,000. We get a 5% tax cut. Joe Rich gets to keep $500 dollars, I get to keep $50. Who is getting screwed? Joe Rich, who is still paying over $8,000 more in taxes than I am. I dont understand thisjustification of stealing from PEOPLE just because they have been more successful financially. That is unfair and reaks the ideal of all men being created equal. Obviously class jealousy on the part of those that have not been as successful throws that out the window.

This argument seems to me like a reason for NOT giving tax cuts to the rich, and to rather increase their taxes by 5% and cut the taxes of everyone else by 10%, (this is an exageration, but I hope you get my drift). And by the way, I am part of the top tax bracket, and since the government protects my money more, and I have more to loose, I feel it ok that I pay more of the taxes. Well, actually I don't find it ok, it is essentially unfair but thats life, we can afford it, get used to it.

oui. I see you beat me to the response on those 10 things.

i think it's funny because we are probably the only 2 kerry supporters on JU
on Oct 14, 2004
1.)Blood for oil? You bet!

2.) Teachers, regardless of how passionate they are, can be worn down. Your reply is utopian at best and nowhere close to realistically addresssing the issue.

3.) It is not worded to take rights away. Gays, guns & lawyers

4.) Because Clinton needed a piece of legislative fluff to make his base feel like they were actually doing something?

5.) Where did he say he wants to ban abortion? He has said that as Americans we should value life. Dont you value life?

6.) Again, unfair. I guess we expect different things from our president. Instead of a talking head I want a leader.

7.) Well...mine I guess. The people I know? We all seem to have benefitted from not having been thrown into a depression by the attacks and the recession.

8.) See response #1.

9.) Becasue terrorists attack us and our allies daily. Worldwide guerilla warfare by a religious group of zealots wants to see you DEAD. Thats why.

10.) Sure, people that dont pay taxes didnt. But if you paid taxes you DID get a cut.

BTW, dont forget about blogic!
on Oct 14, 2004
Well I certainly hope I get to see your responses to my responses to your response... confusing isn't it? I hope I get to see your rebuttal to what I posted.

Sandy2: Actually, this conservative is getting hungry and has a set of prints from a new client to review tonight, so Ill be absentee for awhile. Thanks for looking forward to my response to your response of my response though.

He is destroying the middle class by giving tax cuts to the insanely rich and sending us jobs over seas.

ok if you really want to talk about outsourcing, lets talk about the hundreds of Heinz ketchup plants located over seas...

Demand better fuel economy.

And while hes at it, he should just demand that the terrorrists stop being meanies and help us promote world peace. And he should demand God come down and grant us all the gift of flight!!!

His "Hydrogen innitiative" is not enough.

It was a worthy step in the right direction

need i say more??

it is essentially unfair but thats life

ok so let me get this straight... KERRY/EDWARDS 04, HES REALLY UNFAIR WOOOOOOHOOO.... your logic is flawed. Sure the world is unfair, but i would like a president who struggles to make it fair for EVERYONE, not just the middle class.

but considering all the other firsts hes had

first president to have a terrorrist attack on US soil...

Yes, gays can come up with another name, because Marriage IS between a man and a woman

wait... i guess you missed the homosexuals flocking to California to get married? Climb out from under your rock.

Osama Bin Lauden--the initial person who is responsible for 9-11 is now long gone thanks to Bush and his need to fill his daddy's shoes. If his daddy would have done the job efficiently in the 90s then we wouldn't have to worry about saddam....

But it was liberals like you who were against the war in the 90's... make up your mind, hypocrite. Seems like people like you are so single minded that you can only focus on one thing, but ill let you in on a little secret: The American government can handle doing two things at once!!! Trust me, I know it sounds far-fetched, but its true!!

no-- because i do not have the energy or the time to deal with morons like yourself.

= I dont have an answer. I am very opinionated, but when questioned about those opinions, i result to name calling and black listing.
