A day in the life of an Ohioan turned New Yorker

I am so sick of the "thin is in" stereotype. There is something to be said about being fit and healthy, but some celebrities look as if their bones are about to pierce their skin. I wouldn't constitute this look as being fit nor healthy. Personally, I think it's disgusting. Do men find this attractive? Why is it such a craze?

I think some celebrities look better with a little meat on their bones. Take Lindsay Lohan for example. What was so "fat" about her in the first place? I don't believe that she needed to loose any weight. Why the sudden weight loss?

What about Nicole Ritchie? Why the drastic drop? If I recall, her and I are about the same height. The tabloids speculate that she is down to around 98 lbs. I am at least 30 lbs heavier than that, and I'm not necesarily fat--curvy yes, fat no. How do you think that makes me feel? Pretty damn inadiquate, that's how.

I used to have huge issues with my weight. When I was in high school I never had time to eat. First off, when I was younger, I was never really big on breakfast, so that's one meal lost. Between being in the band, choir, and newspaper staff I never ate lunch. I never bought something small from the al e carte table because I was saving up for gas money. That's minus two meals. When I would come home from school I would have to go to work, and I was lucky if I had time to sit down to have dinner with my family. I didn't even realize what I was doing to myself. Needless to say I got down to about 95 lbs. That was my junior year of high school.

After a year, I wisened up and realized what I was doing to myself. I began to eat. I immediately got up to about 125 lbs. This is where I believe my weight should be. I was healthy and active, but I always made time to eat.

Then I met Hardin in the fall of 2001....

We made eating our number one priority. Every night was cheese fries topped with bacon and ice cream for dessert. Needless to say, I got pretty large. In the summer of 2002, I got in a terrible auto accident and when I got weighed in I couldn't believe I was at 160 lbs!

That's when I realized I needed to do something.....

So I did. I went on the Atkins diet and boy did that work. I got down to 115 lbs in about 9 months. The only problem was I felt dizzy all of the time. I went to the Doctor and he diagnosed me as being hypoglocemic (sp?!).

I then started eating whatever in the hell I wanted, mixed it in with exercise, and have stayed right around 130 (although I think marital bliss might have added 5 lbs...I'm too scared to get on the scale!).

Am I happy with myself? For the most part. It's a day to day thing. But, come on ladies....EAT A FREAKIN TWINKIE OR THREE!!!!!

You and I are about the same weight and the same height. I used to weigh 104, and I looked pretty much like Nicole Ritchie. In fact, when Dave came home for leave in Jan '04 one of the first things he said to me was "we need to feed you".

I'm happy where I'm at. I look like a chick; I have boobs and a butt. I like that.

it's all about the T and A girlfriend! hehe... Sounds like Dave was on a mission. Looking like a chick is way better than not having a pancake ass or piercing hip bones! When I was small I used to bitch about not having anything up top....then when I was big it was like watch out world, make way for Alison's ass. Now, I am pretty comfortable with myself.

mm:
Hehe! Amen brother! more cushion for the pushin! haha

Dude, when I was lighter I went down to a 'b' cup. I had no boobs...now that I've gained some, I'm back in a 'd', sometimes a 'dd'.....it's great because it balances out my ass hehehehe!!!

MM, skinny chicks really do look ill. I saw a pic of teri hatcher a few weeks ago, and it looks like she's break if you grabbed her too hard. skeletal just isn't attractive.

Ahhh,
One of my more passionate subjects. Rail thin like the current trend is just, well gross but, on the other end overweight for a persons body type is no better. but most importantly both are unhealthy and isn't that what it's all about being healthy? BTW this also goes for the guys.

As far as looks I like little titties, A & B cups are great Anything bigger makes me nervous, I fear that 40 year old "sag" on my woman. As far as Asses go, I want it to look just as good out of the Rockies as it does in them! Not flat, curvy, but not huge.

BTW ladies if you want to show off your ass get yourself a pair of Rockies, the men that know what they are will attest that they are magic for makin' a womans butt look scrumptious! ( even if it's not percfect! )

TasT:
What are these "rockies" that you speak of?

I agree...fat is not healthy either....

Not the best picture but the fact is the cut of the jeans are magic!

Link

BTW there are a few others now using a simular cut, Wrangler "Barebacks", Lawman Jeans and Western Ethics.....

I have witnessed these jeans make a flat no but chick look curvy and somehow haul in a big ol but and make it look good tooo.......

ROFL...

As I've aged, I've learned that comfort is taking precedence over fashion. I don't want something that makes me look huge, and I'll admit to wearing a bit of black (it IS slimming, isn't it?), but I'm not gonna wear something that hurts, just to suck it all in.

That said, I'm on a losing streak... 8 pounds in the last two weeks. I'm a happy girl.

I agree though those that wear them put a check mark in the comfortable box.

Congrats!

I'm a big girl...and while I realize that I definitely need to lose some poundage, it's just REALLY difficult for me to do it...the last time I went in to the dr. I'd lost five...but I'm sure with the move and the stress of a new job I've gained again.

And those jeans are butt-ass fugly! They were probably cool in 1988! Ugh!

There's so much out there that's comfortable yet fashionable....those look like they're neither...

I'm somewhat of an hourglass figure...I also have more "A" than "T". My size has never been below a 7, and never will be...Nowadays, I am, well, a few sizes above a 7 . I could use to lose about 15 pounds, and am currently doing yoga to help me become more active. However, I don't want to fret about my shape too much...my boyfriend likes it, and as for myself, I don't think I look too bad.
