A day in the life of an Ohioan turned New Yorker

I forgot that JU is very right wing dominant.

I have to be honest, I'm not feeling this election as much as I was the last.  Even though I am voting for Obama, I just felt that Hillary was the better choice for the job.  I am a strong supporter of the dems and even though I feel that the ideal candidate was not selected, my values still remain the same.  I believe in a woman's right to choose and health care for everyone.  I agree with raising these taxes to pay off the giant debt and bringing the troops home.  I do not support this war, but I support the men and women who are completing their duties.

I don't mind McCain because he is moderate, but I DO mind Sarah Palin.  Now don't get me wrong, I think it's great that a woman was selected and we are breaking down barriers in this election, but honestly, I think she is just one hot, hot mess.  If you think that being an ocean away from Russia makes you an expert on foreign policy, then we're headed for trouble.  She also seems to believe that this war is a duty from god.  I'm really not getting that one.  I also wish she'd quit thanking Hillary.  She is not fooling anyone.  She will not pick up many Hillary supporters because her values are so vastly different.

Just my thoughts...

Honestly Nitro, did she said her feelings were hurt or that she didnt' want anyoen to disagree with her?

Your right FS... my apologies. It just sounded like the friend's of AW started circling the wagons to preempt any opposing comments. I don't think anyone came off mean or coercive, that surely wasn't the intent.

Most of my hippy friends are wishing they could justify voting for Nader, but will probably vote Obama. I don't know. In my opinion the Republicans had 7 years to flush our country down the tubes with some of the worst choices in American history (Iraq, foreign policy in general, Katrina, economic regulatory meltdown, energy independence, fiscal and monetary policy, wto, poverty, trade policy, etc). On the other hand... very few of the Dems have shown a backbone and stood up to the Republicans. My favorite Presidential candidates were Ron Paul on the Republican side and Dennis Kucinich on the Dem side. Both these guys may be a little extreme, but they have held to their principles, aren't owned by the special interests, and are consistent and smart in their foreign and domestic policy.

I'll vote for Obama. I think he has the right values, and I respect his position on foreign policy and his careful intellectual approach to decision making. Many politicians, especially our current administration makes up for lack of expertise with brashness and over decisiveness. I don't trust McCain's temper, and I don't like his foreign policy. My two cents.

I agree with moshker's hippie friends. I'm personally wishing I could justify a vote for Nader but will probably vote for Obama. Just like I voted for Kerry. Just like I voted for Gore. Both parties are awful choices and we won't have real change in this country until third parties get equal media coverage, are allowed into the debates, and gain respect from the political community. Open up your minds people!

at votenader.org, I was watching some videos of him.  This is what he said on one of them.

"Better to vote for someone you believe in and lose than to vote for someone you don't believe in and win, for that someone will surely betray you."

I think that sums it up nicely.  I'm throwing away my vote this year, and I'm proud of it!
